It's a perfect balance of organised chaos. Its hustle and bustle is intimidating for any new comer, but it's running like clock work soon makes it easy to fall into the routine of a New York resident. Hell by the last day, hopping on and off the subway and calling a cab felt as natural as breathing. New York truly is the city that never sleeps, but with so much to do and so much to see, it's easy to understand why. Having grown up in a village in the country in England, being thrown into this concrete madness was completely out of my comfort zone, yet there was something ever so thrilling about being submersed into the unknown chaos.

After gathering our suitcases, my family and I hopped into an iconic yellow cab, which took us from Newark airport, into the Upper East Side of Manhattan where skyscrapers towered above us in every direction, on every street, of every block of the city.

Our home for this city break was the New York Roosevelt Hotel, only a couple of blocks down from Times Square, The Empire State Building, and Fifth Avenue. With so many places, sights and opportunities pretty much on our door step, we dropped our bags off in the hotel room and set straight to work trying to fulfil our busy schedule.

Over the next 5 days we worked tirelessly around the clock seeing the many attractions, including visiting the Statue of Liberty, going up to the top of the Rockerfellar Building in the day and then to the top of the Empire State at night, and enjoying breakfast in Grand Central Station. We also enjoyed a lunch at the boat house in Central Park as well as paying respects at the 9/11 memorial before enjoying a stunning view of the Manhattan Skyline on a boat trip.

However, the highlight for my family and I was going to see Coldplay in the Metlife stadium on the second night of our trip. Having been a Coldplay lover for as long as I can remember, getting the chance to see them live in New York city was the most magical memory that I took away from this experience (if you wish to read more about the Coldplay concert, see my previous post below)!

Despite being absolutely breath-taking, by the time our final day in the Big Apple came around, we were all exhausted and eagerly awaiting the chance to finally take a dip in the pool and cool off at our villa in Florida- after all, even the locals were claiming that it was unusually hot in NYC.

I look forward to the day that I am able to return to New York, maybe for leisure, or even for business purposes in the future. This concrete jungle truly has stolen my heart and I promise that I'll be back soon to make more memories!
