mindless mag

Previously, I was the Creative Lead at Mindless Mag, a digital publication for Stuff That Matters, where I oversaw the conception and implementation of monthly campaigns covering important social issues. As well as managing the magazine's website, I was also responsible for the social media content and securing relevant official campaign partners and collaborators for each campaign.

During my time at Mindless Mag, I secured and delivered partnerships with a fantastic array of brands, charities and creatives that are working to bring about positive change in their respective field.

guest lectures

I worked closely with universities and students to explore the fashion industry's relationship with important social issues such as mental health, body image, climate change, feminism, sustainability and more. Not only through monthly Digital Micro-Internship Programmes but also through delivering guest lectures to UK universities. Through carefully curated interactive lectures, we harnessed the power of storytelling to inspire individual advocacy which translates into collective action and positive change.

The standard Fashion + Stuff That Matters lecture covered 4 key topics:

+ Introduction to Mindless Mag

+ The power of storytelling for positive change

+ Fashion + Stuff That Matters (campaign topics and collaborations overview)

+ Fashion Futures (your fashion career and taking action).

The lectures were informative, inspiring and engaging. Using an interactive poll throughout, students were invited to engage with Mindless Mag's social media platforms and share their stories throughout the lecture.

fashion party

Manchester's Sustainable Fashion Party, organised by Manchester Fashion Movement, brought together companies and individuals who promote a more circular approach to fashion ethics. All of the people involved in the event were fully behind diverting clothes from landfill and in turn helping the planet. The event aimed to raise awareness on ways we can contribute to a more circular economy.

Mindless Mag was invited as a guest and I was asked to go and represent the magazine at the event, which comprised guest panel talks of local creatives and speakers, a fashion show, followed by live music. Watch my reflection of the event below.

BBC interveiw

On the 1st of February 2021, I was invited to speak on BBC Ulster's Evening Extra show regarding the news of Arcadia falling into administration and what this meant for fashion and the high-street.

Radio hosts Tara Mills and Declan Harvey hosted an interview where I offered my take on what the closure of Topshop stores nationwide symbolised in fashion. I also highlighted how it symbolises an opportunity to reflect on what we really should expect from fashion in terms of sustainability and consciousness.

special feature

At the start of 2020 Mindless Mag published its first ever special edit, covering four key topics through the lens of fashion: Climate Change, Veganism, Mental Health and Consumerism.

This edition takes a close look at what Mindless Mag achieved in its first year and includes a feature length article that I wrote on the topic of Consumerism. At the time, I had just been named as Mindless Mag's first official Brand Ambassador.
