concept store

MFM collaborated with Quayside Shopping Centre, MediaCityUK, to take over a retail space for 9 months. The space delivered a new concept in retail by collaborating with independent brands who have a focus on sustainability, with an inclusive studio space for exhibitions, performances, education and conversations.

MFM KIOSK was brought to life, attracting new and existing footfall, reimagining the shopping experience, and engaging the local community with conversations around sustainability through an innovative retail approach.

Over the course of our residency events; installations, exhibitions, and pop-up stores took place allowing local and far-reaching communities in Greater Manchester and beyond the opportunity to discover purpose driven, independent brands. Learning about design, development, and the brand journey, bringing to life the true language and meaning of sustainability.

bluebirds exhibition launch

Bluebirds was the first solo exhibition of paintings by Sophia Dobreva - Nolita, inspired by the themes of spirituality, solitude and belonging. As a chronic traveller through cities and countries, Sophia captures fragments of dreams, fears and everyday anxiety, while facing the question of one’s place in the world. Created in a period of relative isolation, the works toy with the idea of unleashing one’s ‘demons’ and embracing their destructive power, of immersing fully in the deep blue of the unconsciousness.

More amazing artists joined us on the launch night for spoken word and contemporary dance performances.

supermarket streets

Supermarket Streets 'From Aisles To Miles' is a collaborative exhibition from the creative minds of artist Emma Evans and Sprechen Music’s Chris Massey where intrigue is created through the combined medium of photography and illustration and a life story is given to the humble shopping trolley.

The narrative given to these ‘chariots of consumerism’ is one of past wrongs with a rediscovery of them, which, at times cryptic and ambiguous, showcases a look at environmental issues of over-production and mass consumerism.

The exhibition launched at Kiosk on 25th May and showcased Emma and Chris’ images alongside screen painted pieces by illustrator, painter and filmmaker Katie Mason of RAG. Attendees brought their own garments for Katie to customise on the night with an exclusive Supermarket Streets logo.

Music was provided by Sticky Heat and Supernature resident DJs as well as complimentary tipples by Manchester Union  & Lyres:Non Alcoholic Spirits. Limited prints by Evans and Massey will also be available to purchase on the night.
